THE SCANDAL OF ROYAL MAIL PRIVATISATION

The UK Government is currently preparing the way for the privatisation of the Royal Mail.

Privatisation Scandal

This, rather than Scottish becoming independent *, is by far the biggest threat to a reliable and affordable postal service within Scotland.

Vast deterioration in service

Royal Mail’s management has been preparing for this for some time by closing local delivery offices, ignoring the needs of local communities and vastly increasing the charges to the users of their services. Take the Royal Mail Distribution Office at Cubie Street in Glasgow as an example. None of the reasons quoted by the ‘customer care’ team were of remote interest to the actual users of the service who just want their Royal Mail centres close to them.

ignoring the needs of local communities

I now avoid having parcels delivered if at all possible as it is virtually impossible for me to actually get them due to the distance of the new delivery/sorting office from my house, the lack of public transport to it, and the cost of having the item redelivered in a way I can actually easily get it.

Do we want the Royal Mail to go the way of electricity?

Do we want the Royal Mail to go the way of electricity, gas, railways and English water? Expensive, remote, interested in shareholders at the service user’s peril. I think not!

Do we have a Government that is remotely interested in what the people of the UK, and in particular Scotland, think? The answer is a resounding NO! They are only interested in sucking up to their pals in the big businesses that will take the Royal Mail over and make vast profits at everybody else’s expense.

To save the postal service in Scotland there is really only one answer. In next years Scottish Independence referendum VOTE YES!

* UPDATE ON 19.09.2013 * SNP confirms its policy to re-nationalise Royal Mail after independence! Hurray!!!!

*UPDATE ON 30.09.2013 * UK Labour Party confirm that it is to ignore its membership once more and is not intending to re-nationalise Royal Mail if Labour become Government at next UK General Election. Surprise, surprise (NOT!!!?).

WALES TO HAVE OPT OUT ORGAN DONATION LAW

I have been registered as an organ donor for many years and have done this willingly. However if the Scottish, or UK Governments or even the European Union bring in a presumed consent legislation like the Welsh Government then I will opt OUT. Only I have the right to decide what happens to my body after my death and I will not have that right of choice taken away.

Presumed Consent is not consent

Presumed consent is not consent! It is setting a dangerous precedent for other legislation when presumed consent can be used as a justification for action without a person’s agreement.

I would also object to have to fill in a form to opt out of the presumed consent system to take control of my own body organs.

The taking of someone's organs without their explicit consent could be called theft

Carwyn Jones (First Minister of Wales, Labour) and Kirsty Williams (Welsh Liberal Democrat Leader) could be called the new Burke and Hare. The taking of someone’s organs without their explicit consent could be called theft.

Under the current system in Scotland a total of 285 people have received life-saving transplants in the 12 months prior to April 2013 as latest figures show that Scotland has achieved a 74.1 per cent increase in organ donors. WHY WESTMINSTER SAYS WE'RE BETTER TOGETHER

Denis Healey: "I think they [Westminster politicians] are concerned about Scotland taking the oil, I think they are worried stiff about it."

DOES TODAY’S LABOUR PARTY BELIEVE IN PROTECTING THE MARGINALISED AND MOST VULNERABLE?

Many years ago the UK Labour Party gave up any pretensions that it was a party that actually believed in protecting the marginalized and the most vulnerable in society.

Instead  it now routinely rants and raves at the SNP when the latter says what Labour should be saying.

The independence debate which is now hotting up and going more in the Yes campaigns direction has brought this to the fore.

The SNP are starting to put some meat on the bones of a new Scottish constitution under independence. They recently announced that every Scottish citizen would have the right to be housed and to have a free education. And there will be no nuclear weapons on Scottish soil.

Until the Blairite, Mandelson, Balls, Milliband ‘image over substance’ group took over the once great Labour Party that was what Labour believed in and they achieved a significant amount between their election in 1945 and the 1970s, before the Thatcher Government of 1979 onwards.

Slowly but surely that inheritance has been whittled away. The Labour Party of today simply join in the poor bashing with the Tories and say it cannot be done. Do we not deserve something better than this?

Today's front page article in the Daily Record indicates that the Labour Party no longer believes in protecting the poor and most vulnerable in society. Well there's a surprise!? NOT!

IF YOU ARE A ‘NO’ BECAUSE YOU DON’T LIKE THE SNP OR ALEX SALMOND?

Why are some folk so eager to buy into the mainstream media's new trend of 'we don't like Alex Salmond' or the SNP when they have delivered so much more for Scotland than anyone or any party has done in a long long time?

  • Frozen Council tax (which Westminster has been unable to achieve in England)
  • 1,000 extra police on the beat (when their being cut down south by up to 16,000),
  • Free prescriptions (£7.85 a visit down south),
  • Free tuition (up to £9,000 down south),
  • Free personal care (not available down south)
  • An NHS firmly in the public sector (being privatised down south with MPs profiting form private health care companies)
  • No tolls on Scottish roads and removal of tolls on bridges (on a number of routes and bridges down south)

...these are only some of the things they've done for us, but is this not enough to deter people from buying into the 'we don't like Alex Salmond' project ? And this has been achieved despite funding cuts coming from Westminster.

This ‘project’ is for the whole of Scotland. What would happen if we vote YES? I would have thought it most likely that Alex Salmond will resign soon after the next Scottish Elections as he has achieved his lifetime’s ambition.

If you are considering voting NO because you don’t like Salmond or the SNP or indeed for any other reasons, think of this…

Do you dislike him so much that you'd prefer to have a future with the likes of New Labour or David Cameron ? People that have brought...

  • The UK continuing to squander Scotland’s natural resources with nothing to show for them.
  • Thousands of redundancies in the military (and also failing to keep their promise of stationing 7,000 troops in Scotland)
  • Billions spent on Trident and refurbishing Westminster (whilst the Scottish public sector budget is cut)
  • £100,000 being spent on the House of Lords toilets (after cutting Scotland's capital investment)
  • A tax cut for millionaires whilst ordinary families incomes go down (a tax cut a majority of Scottish MPs voted against)
  • The Bedroom Tax for the likes of the disabled (which over 90% of Scottish MPs voted against)
Ask yourself what has this man done to make you want to buy into a future that will deliver nothing ?
